Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne

Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne

Created in 1983, the principal missions of the Clermont-Auvergne Opera Centre (Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne) are the dissemination of opera and the production of operatic works in Clermont-Ferrand, within the region and throughout France, this whilst prioritising media campaigns targeting young people.

Since 1999, each operatic season organized by the Clermont-Auvergne Opera Centre has been a blend of operas from the classic repertoire and original works. Combining quality, diversity and originality, with an occupancy rate of 86% and with 29% of the audience aged less than 27 years’ old, the Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne is heedful of the early stages in the careers of young artists through a biennial international Singing Competition. Furthermore, the Centre lyrique Clermont-Auvergne also welcomes personalities internationally renowned within a large repertoire ranging from the baroque period to the music of our times. The Opera Centre is able to send its productions on tour in France as well as throughout Europe through co-productions, its main partners being the Orchestre d’Auvergne conducted by Roberto Fores Veses, the Opéra Nomade conducted by Amaury du Closel, the Opéra Eclaté conducted by Olivier Desbordes, the Centre Français de Promotion Lyrique under the chairmanship of Raymond Duffaut as well as the French Opera houses with which it cooperates on significant projects such as Il Viaggio a Reims, Don Pasquale, L’ombre de Venceslao or Die Entführung aus dem Serail
