Chorégies d’Orange

Chorégies d’Orange

The Chorégies d'Orange are today the oldest French festival as they date back to 1869. However, they have, over the years, been able to preserve all their originality : through the name they bear, from Greek « choreos », which thus links them to the Greco-Latin tradition ; through the venue where they take place every summer : a perfectly preserved antique theatre which has a capacity of 8 600 people and which is privileged in having kept its « wall », guarantee of exceptional acoustics ; through the operatic and musical vocation that the Chorégies d'Orange have adopted and which enables them to be one of the great French festivals unquestionably endowed with an international reputation.
