Opéra de Reims

Opéra de Reims

Built in 1873, destroyed during the 1st World War, the interior of the Opéra de Reims is rebuilt in the Art Déco style. Its repertoire, set with a focus on opening, covers the periods from baroque to contemporary. It houses the ARCAL, a national operatic company, whose original performances irrigate the territory of the region. In the same frame of mind, partnerships have been set up with the Ballet Biarritz, a national centre of choreography and Césaré, a studio of musical creation.

The « L’Enfant à l’opéra » project seeks to open up the opera house to young generations: a specific children’s programme rubs shoulders with an « École du spectateur », the aim of which is to offer children preparation for the performances of the repertory. At the Opéra de Reims, one spectator in three is under the age of 27.
