Opéra de Toulon

Opéra de Toulon

The Opéra de Toulon, opened in 1862, is one of the rare Second Empire opera houses to have preserved its original appearance. It is managed by a public institution of cultural cooperation created in 2004 by the Communauté d’Agglomération Toulon Provence Méditerranée and by the Conseil Général du Var. Claude-Henri Bonnet is its Managing and Artistic Director.

Eleven distinct trades make it up: the full-time artists of the orchestra, of the chorus and of the ballet; technicians, stage designers, wardrobe mistresses, hairdressers, make-up artists; production, control room, security, reception, administration and communication staff. The Opéra de Toulon creates new productions and participates in numerous co-productions with the French and European operatic network: the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Grand Théâtre de Provence, Opéra Comique, Opéra de Leipzig, Lucca, Savona, Lausanne, Monte-Carlo, Marseille, Avignon, Saint-Étienne, Nancy, Montpellier, Bordeaux
