Opéra national de Lyon

The Opéra de Lyon, rebuilt by Jean Nouvel, opened in 1993, is one of the greatest successes of the second half of the 20th century. The architect established a « dialogue between history and modernity », capitalizing on space, multiplying volume, integrating the four original walls and the public foyer within a resolutely contemporary building. A masterpiece in the service of masterpieces, the modernity of the Opéra de Lyon reminds us how much opera, music and dance must remain present-day art-forms.
