Opéra Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie

Opéra Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie

The Opéra Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie came into being in 2001 through the merger of two existing structures : the Opéra de Montpellier, which in the 80s became a real hub of creation and of operatic production with a full season and set up a choir in 1983, and the Orchestra which, at its creation in 1979, contributed to boosting the activity of the opera intra muros, in France and abroad. Since 1990, on top of the salle Molière and the grande salle de l’Opéra Comédie, the twin structure has at its disposal the Opéra Berlioz and the Salle Pasteur  within the Corum and can thus welcome almost 100 000 spectators every year.

The Opera-house and the Orchestra have also built up an artistic and educational network within the town and over the whole Occitanie region where they are present season after musical season.
