Théâtre du Capitole

Théâtre du Capitole

An opera house founded in the 18th century and located within the Capitole de Toulouse, the Théâtre du Capitole has both a permanent choir and a ballet, as well as scenery and costume workshops. Its performances are assisted by the Orchestre national du Capitole. Its diversified programme is open to contemporary creation which echoes the grand works of the repertory.

The Théâtre du Capitole also hosts an International Competition of Operatic Song established by the city of Toulouse in 1954.

The Théâtre du Capitole  has for many years been running a determined policy to open up opera to all audiences, sustained by numerous actions of artistic pedagogy and by a presence over the entire conurbation of Toulouse.

Christophe Ghristi is artistic director since 2017.
